Another TGIF!

I put out a question out over at the ZNE Network about renaming my Freebie Friday since there are already a couple out here in blog land and I don't' want to confuse anyone. Ms. Chel of ZNE fame suggested TGIF, Thank Goodness It's Free! So I said, I'm all for that, and TGIF it is from now on! Unless a small avalanche starts in my brain and comes tumbling down with any better ideas. But I'm not to worried about that kind of problem at this time. ;-)

I'm sitting here looking at some new product that arrived in the mail this morning. I still have to photograph it, write descriptions, price, and figure out shipping weights. Then I get to through all the funny little hoops of actually getting all the information into the administrative part of the store. What did I get? I'll give you a teeny hint.

I received some kits that are adorable with a real vintage feel. ANd once you're done, you'll have an wonderful small ATC holder to keep or give as a gift (filled with ATC's of course!). But I only bought a few because I wanted to gauge the reaction to them before I order in quantity. So don't forget to stop by next week and visit Shabby Cottage Studio.com .

It's breezy in the mountains today, a touch overcast at times as though it can't make up it's mind whether to rain or not. I'm in my favorite professional office wear, perfect for chilly weather, and oh so tres chic for a hard days work in the office....my favorite comfy sweats, tee shirt and a long sleeved shirt on the back of my chair for "just in case". You always have a "just in case" when you live in a drafty, high ceilings shabby old cottage. :-)

And just in case you thought I got confused because of the name change, let me say Have a Great Weekend and here's your free image. Just in time for some Halloween creations!

Grand Opening Next Week!

Well, I've done it, committed myself to take the plunge and set a date. Ready or not, :-) my new web store will open next Tuesday Oct. 2! This is something I've wanted to pursue for a very long time but always found one reason or another as to why I couldn't. And then the day came whenI knew that I could always come up with a reason for why I couldn't which meant that I wouldn't.

I chose Oct. 2 because six years ago to the day, we drove up the mountains into Tennessee, and straight to the bank for the closing on our shabby cottage. We signed the papers and changed our life drastically and radically. For the first time in all my life I've finally stopped being a gypsy. For the first time in all my life I've actually lived in the same place, the same house for longer than five years. Six years now and no moves in sight. For me that's a record. I told my family the only way I'm leaving this house is feet first. And then I told them not to get any ideas! ;-)

So I decided in celebration of that closing, I would have an opening! So please plan on stopping by for a visit to shabbycottagestudio.com Tuesday, Oct 2. I'm giving everyone a free collage sheet of their choice with every purchase made! And I have some wonderful "fun stuff" for you to alter and to alter with. Wanna know what they are? Come visit next Tuesday! ;-)

Whoo Hoo, I'm gonna do it!!!
OK, now take a deep breath.

TGIF!

Another week has gone by and here in the mountains we're moving closer day by day to the colors and feel of autumn. Slowly some of the trees are beginning to turn. The weather this week has been incredibly perfect and I hope it continues into the weekend so I can get some garden maintenance done.

In between working on the new web site, shipping orders and trying to create in my studio this week I've also been staining unfinished dining room chairs for my sister's new house, and painting the front door of my shabby cottage. Finally. I've only been wanting to do this since the day we moved in...which will be 6 years ago October 2. But I had to wait on my dear hubby to take the door down and sand off all the years of old thickly crackled varnish and stain. So now it's undergoing a transformation and I'm painting it red and then will do an antique glaze over that before it gets it's new coat of varnish.

Maybe one of these days my shabby cottage won't be so shabby anymore. :-)

I thought this young lady looked like she might be going to a party. Maybe a Halloween party? I put her on a background of some of my digitally designed paper, added a couple digital brushes to dress up the corners and voila, she's yours! Have fun!

Freebie Friday Image

This has been a busy week. Why just yesterday was Monday. Wasn't it? ;-) Anyway, I guess it wasn't Monday and the week just got away from me once again. Nothing new there!

I've been working hard on my new web store. Yep, you heard it right. I've decided to take the plunge and open my own. I will still continue with Etsy for now but I guess part of me is a teensy bit of a control freak and I've been longing for a home of my own where I can do things my way. Actually I've been working on this since July but ended up going through two different hosts before I settled on my current one. And I think I've finally found a place to call home. Yay.

So this week I've been working on getting everything set up, deciding on layout and look, product information typed in, photos taken, shipping set up etc, etc. I'm not real tech savvy, and always in "learn mode", so I'm not always fast at getting some things implemented that I would like, but I am working on them behind the scenes.

And finally I think I'm pretty close to opening! If you would like to be part of my mailing list for store announcements, information and sale offerings, you can join the mailing list I have here on the blog until I get something set up over on the store.

Okaaay! All that being said, here's your image for the week. I know it's not January yet but I thought the image was so pretty and I loved the colors. Hope you do too.

Chickadee -Freebie Friday Image

I just love chickadees! So tiny, so pretty with their distinct black, gray and white markings. Over the years I've painted quite a few birds and this little guy is still my favorite to paint. So today in honor of these little favored favorites I've given you an image I took of one outside my dining room window this summer. Hope you can put him to good use.

Ebay, Etsy and PayPal ~ Help!

All righty-dighty, I'll just get my help plea out of the way. Any Etsy sellers out there who use PayPal have their shipping calculations page change? Mine has, and I still can't figure out this new system in regards to getting PayPal to charge the correct shipping when I have an Etsy purchase. First they charged to much shipping , today they didn't charge any shipping! Anyone know how to set up the new page so that it gets along with the Etsy checkout? I'm flamboozled. OK, that plea has been put out into the universe. On to other things.

I'm trying a new listing on Ebay tonight. I haven't listed all summer because things just weren't happening. We'll see what happens this week. I also have a new Halloween art card I'm adding to my Etsy store tonight. I've also started doing check book covers and am adding one to inventory. More will be following.

So here are some pictures of the above items. I hope everyone had a GREAT holiday weekend. Our weather turned suddenly and fall is on the way! I can't wait.
