Sharing

I have a few things I would like to share today.  My friend and fellow teacher over at Creative Workshops, Lorraine Stobie, has opened her Etsy store called Luscious Layers.  Isn't that a simply delicious name?  It conjures up all kinds of warm and fuzzy feelings in me.  Lorraine says in her store description:

"Layers are surface designed repurposed textiles and trims. All bundles are unique and ONE OF A KIND! Textiles consist of multiple layers of dyed, painted, stencilled, batik and screen printed techniques. Patterns range from subtle to bold. As the textiles and trims are repurposed, torn edges and tattered bits are to be expected."

I absolutely love what I saw in the store!

And she's also having a Giveaway of THREE of her Luscious Layers bundles (and yours truly has certainly thrown her hopeful hat in the ring) to celebrate her opening.  You'll find details of the Giveaway at her blog Creative Daily.  Hurry over!  So check out the store and hurry over to her blog to enter your name.

But that's not all Lorraine has to celebrate lately.  She just discovered she's been published in the Dec. issue of Somerset Studio.

Way to go Lorraine!  Congratulations!
 Your work deserves it.

I also want to share with you that I have an itty bitty sale going on at Shabby Cottage Studio the store.  Somehow I managed to over order a color of Glimmer Mist and really need to move it out.  It's a luscious color called Seafoam...very shabbylicious.  If you've been wanting to try Glimmer Mist but was hesitant to spend the money here's a chance to get it at a really good deal.  It retails for $6.95.  I sell it for $6.50.  But in order to move it I have marked it down to $3.99.  That's wholesale folks!
 Only while supplies last.

The last thing I would like to share today is one of those emails I received where you are supposed to pass it on to so many people.  I admit, I'm not very good at that.  Yet every now and then one comes to my inbox and I want to share with more than a few email buddies.  This is one of them.

For ALL of the women out there!

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...

enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to...
something perfect to wear if the employer,
or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a youth she's content to leave behind....
a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to
retelling it in her old age....
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra...
one friend who always makes her laugh... and one who lets her cry....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ........
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family...
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a feeling of control over her destiny...
how to fall in love without losing herself..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW....
how to quit a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend without;
ruining the friendship....

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW....
when to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK AWAY...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that she can't change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..
that her childhood may not have been perfect....but it's over....

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she would and wouldn't do for love or more....
how to live alone.... even if she doesn't like it...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW.. .
whom she can trust,
whom she can't,
and why she shouldn't take it personally...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
where to go...
be it to her best friend's kitchen table..
or a charming Inn in the woods...
when her soul needs soothing....

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
What she can and can't accomplish in a day...
a month...and a year...

Gail, thanks for posting Maya's words. They should be written in stone upon the birth of every girl child! Maya is one of my most inspirational women idols.
