Are you a Journaler?

I've determined that I'm not the journaling type. I spent years thinking I was. I would start multitudes of journals, only to never finish them. Then I would feel guilty for not finishing...but only until I started the next one. I have written journals, art journals, sketch journals, color formula journals, decorating journals, gardening journals...get my drift? ;-)

But I love journals...I love the concept of journals, I love holding journals in my hands, the blank page draws me in, entices me to once more think...oh yes I'll start this one and finish it. But it just isn't going to happen. I have to face the truth...I will never finish any journal I start. But what to do about my love of journals?

I've just this past year become enamoured of altering journals and have discovered this is my way to play with journals, to be creative with journals without having to ever write, draw, paint or think in one. So I'll just alter them and put them in my store for those of you who actually start and finish journals.

Here is my latest journal I finished up about 3:30 this morning because I woke up at 2am and couldn't get back to sleep. I'm listing it in The Papier Cottage my Etsy store I opened for just my artwork to keep separate from the supplies.

I call it Moments of the Journey, because while I may not be a journaler I recognize that any journal is a moment in our own lifes' journey.

Finished Artwork

Finished? Did I say finished?

Yes actually I did. How amazing. I see so little of my studio these days, so to be able to get in there and start and actually finish a piece seems amazing to me . So I thought I'd share. Another Joanna inspired class. :-) If you haven't taken a class from Joanna you should...you absolutely will not be disappointed. I just signed up for my 4th class! ;-) Because I have so much time. LOL But I'm loving it and having SO much fun when I do get a chance to get my hands on a project. So de-stressing for me. When I get myself involved in the whole process I go on a journey away from everything.

I listed this little beauty in my Papier Cottage Etsy store where I'm trying to list only my artwork these days, keeping them separated from supplies.

It's rainy and gloomy in the mountains today. It might clear come Sunday. I'm waiting for the sun to come back and the rain to stop so I can get back outside in the garden. In the meantime a fish fry at Mom's tonight. :-) Here's wishing all of you a super weekend

Celebrating Spring!

Finally the first day of Spring arrived this week and I am thrilled that it has brought with it some warmer days. It's time to turn thoughts to flower beds and mulching and pruning and planting and all that entails. Winter thoughts of outdoor projects can begin to become reality. Can you tell Spring is my favorite time of the year? :-)

Spring also brings about our need to do some Spring cleaning as we bring our homes out of the winter doldrums and get them ready for a new season. My friend Faith of The Glitzy Crown also has an online consignment store in need of formal, prom, pageant, and flower girl dresses. So while you're Spring cleaning keep this in mind and if you have any of these dresses tucked away and would like to get rid of them and maybe make a little of your money back, contact Faith and she'll give you all the details. You'll be in good hands.

So today as I head outdoors to start that cleaning of flowers beds I thought I'd let you know that I'm bringing Spring to the shop also! For all those SPring projects looming you'll find below just a few of the new products that have been arriving at the Shabby Cottage Studio. And some old favorites are being restocked while I'm waiting for a new shipment of velvet flowers and leaves that should be here later in the week.

We've brought in more of Tim Holtz products, always fun with so many uses. And we've stocked up on more of one of our favorite vendors, Crafty Secrets. Their beautiful vintage images come in many different forms and are an excellent product for the cost. I've restocked some popular Glimmer Mist colors and brought in some new luscious colors and also some new Alcohol Ink colors.

Oh, and some fun new chipboard....some really cool interactive "doors" that you can add to a project, place an image behind them and them the "doors" open to reveal the image. How fun does that sound?! Plus I love the Bare Elements triptych in the shape of houses! We know how popular houses are! You can see all these and more on our What's New page.

New Pam Carricker Workshop Starting Monday 3/23

In case you missed it, I'm here to remind you! ;-) Pam Carricker is starting a brand new workshop Monday March 23 over at Creative Workshops. It's called Shades of Grey and is a three week journey exploring the use of Pitt Artist Pens, Caran d'ache watersoluble crayon, and black and white images.

What's great about this class is Pam is putting the videos and the pdf all up at the beginning of the workshop so you don't have to wait for a new class to be uploaded each week. Now you truly can work at your own pace from the comfort of home. So come on over and register and don't' miss another great class by Pam

I'm Still Here

Oh yes, you can't get rid of me that easily. It's just that Creative Workshops has kept me hopping this month and we had some video issues arise that kept my nose to the grind for about 10 days. But I think we're back in control again (as much as one can be in control LOL). And amongst all the stress and the busyness I slowly eked out 10 minutes here and 20 minutes there to visit the studio and take a few moments for myself. I've so been enjoying Joanna's classes and using them to de-stress. So here is my 2nd doll I created and a collage. They will both eventually make their way to my Etsy shop The Papier Cottage.
Her name is Cherish
Dreamer of Dreams

I also have new inventory for the store that I still need to finish uploading and new papers and collage sheets. Hmmm, I guess I'm still busy and better get cracking! ;-)
OK, more later!
