Pendant Kits

Even though these were supposed to be finished LAST month, I still feel good about finally getting them done because it is something else to cross of my 2010 "To Do" list and add to my growing list of cross offs.  I have a long to do list but I try to do them in short lists so that I don't feel totally overwhelmed.  And yet some weeks, even a short list, is more than enough to try and get everything done.

Lately I've been dealing with a stretch of procrastination that is confounding me.  I don't know where it came from but possibly it could be the long and unusually dreary winter we had, still hanging on tenaciously to my soul.  It started sometime in February and  I keep trying to shake it off and plod through each day determined to get more done than the previous day, but sometimes to no avail.  So getting the kits done, photographed and listed "seemed" more difficult than it actually was.
Weird.  I don't like it.

The kits are in very limited numbers until I see how they do.
I have the 1.5" size also coming soon.

Each kit comes in Antique Copper or Black Patina and there are 3 themes to choose from:
Paris, Ancestors or Wings (birds, fairies and angels).

You will get three finished pendants from each kit.

You can find them HERE

Oh The Possibilities!

I'm very excited to be able to finally check mark this on my 2010 "To Do" list!  I have just introduced a new Digital format in both my Shabby Cottage Studio online store and my Etsy store.  These are single images that have been created at a large size.  The majority will be approximately 8"x10" depending on the orientation of the design.  I have started this series with 10 different images and there will be more added to this line. My mind is swirling with ideas!
Here are a few samples and the whole line can be found here.

This is a small and shabby-licious envelope pillow I made for myself from muslin with lovely frayed edges.  I used the Paris Postcard image, printed to more muslin and then sewed to the pillow cover.  BUT!  I could just as easily printed the image onto Photo Transfer paper---->
and ironed it to my pillow cover.  Except I was out of the paper!

These large single images and as high quality as my collage sheets, all created at 300dpi.  Larger images give you so many more possibilities.

You can use these images and print directly to paper or fabric.

You can also print onto fabric transfer paper for fabric transfers if you can not print directly onto fabric. I like the Avery Iron On T-Shirt Transfers. If your image has text on it remember when using iron on transfers to reverse the image before you apply it to the transfer paper... or your text will come out backwards.

You can use these on waterslide decal paper...here is a link in case you are not familiar with this paper but I have not used them or the paper so I am not endorsing any particular seller of this product.  http://www.decalpaper.com/.

What to use them on?  Well right off the top of my head....

Pillows
Chairs
Chair Cushions
Know those slipcovers for Parsons chairs? What a great project!
Placemats
Napkins
Pillowcases
Print on fabric and frame it in a lovely shabby old frame
Wooden Signs
Quilt Squares
Canvas/Fabric Tote Bags
Create Cards or Invitations
Tags
Fabric Collage
Do you do direct image transfers in your mixed media art work? These are great!
Wearable Art

And as with my collage sheets you can use these images on anything you create and sell, you just can't sell the images themselves.

My brain is jumping like crazy with those possibilities, especially now that we have our space at the Corner Nest antique mall!  I hope you likey likey!

 Happy Thursday lovely bloggers!

From the Work Table & Garden

Don't you just love the show and tell aspect of blogging?  Things in life are  better when shared and so much fun to share the little daily things that otherwise would get lost and forgotten.

Here are some new items I've created for our Shabby Cottage space at the Corner Nest antique mall. Some are made from a tea dyed old pillowcase, some from cream colored batting and some from cream colored felt.
 I call them Cottage Hearts.

The other day I was outside walking around the house and actually remembered to take my camera.
( a real feat for me)

I love the simple, subtle beauty of the Hellebores.
I wish they bloomed all summer and not just a short time in the early spring...

A flowering cherry bush in my front garden bed...another short time bloomer...

and Candytuft just make me smile.

That's it for an overcast Tuesday here in the Tennessee mountains.
Hugs to you dear bloggers.

New Upcoming Classes

Classes, classes, we've got classes! Three new ones in fact!
 And here's the scoop.

Starting Monday, April 19 we have Baby's Got BACKground with Margaret Sarantis
Margaret is a Sacramento watercolor artist and children's/women's creativity instructor. She says, "I've been painting for about 8 years. I started out as a watercolor purist, but have evolved and blossomed along the way, so now I'm proud to say I have added collage, acrylic and sculpture into the mix."  Margaret is going to be teaching 10 background techniques that can be applied to journaling, collage or painting.

Also beginning Monday April 19 we have Bookbinding 2 ~ the Art of Measuring and Stitching with Rhomany.  If you have ever entertained the idea of learning bookbinding this is a a perfect class for you!  For a minimum of expense and with no experience you can make a simple, multi-signature book with a pretty hand sewn binding and a great, collaged, mixed-media cover that can be adapted for any occasion.

Starting Monday May 3 we have Mastering Decorative Painting Basics Part 2 with Liz Miller, CDA.  In this part 2 of the 3 part series Liz shows you how to create depth and volume in your painting...it's all about shading.  It also is an excellent, stand alone guide for those of you who want to improve your side loading or have had difficulty with side loading. You will learn easy to follow steps that lead to successful side loading.

So come visit Creative Workshops and check out all of our classes.  We now have 27 classes!!!  All in one place and reasonably priced.  And if you aren't aware of it all our classes are taught by video, so it is as if you have a spot right at the front of the class.  And the classes are ongoing, meaning there is no end date and you can join at any time and work at your own pace, and fit classes to your schedule.  The feedback I get from our students tell me they love this concept!

A Little Hommage to Spring

"Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night."
~Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters of Rainer Maria Rilke

A little something that came out of my studio workroom this week.

Monday Market

I am slowly working my way through my 2010 "to do" list (aka my version of New Year resolutions) .  One of the items on my list has been to share discoveries of some of the incredibly talented sellers over at Etsy that catch my eye and create in me a covetness...whether it be something for my home or for me.  So I decided to introduce Market Mondays. Maybe, if I like them, you might too, and enjoy seeing them.

If you've hung around my blog long enough or shopped my online store, you probably have figured out how  much I love flowers.  So these items I discovered when I did a simple search on Etsy for flowers.

Lampwork Beads by Brilynn Beads

Petal Ruffle Scarf by Fairytale 13

Vintage Filigree Locket by Gingeroni 1

Freeform Crochet Necklace by Irregular Expressions

Mum Ring by Liz Hutnick

Black and White Flowers by Shay White Photography

Happy Monday lovely blog friends
I'll bring you some more eye candy with the next Monday Market.

Thank You~ New images ~ and a Yard Sale

First of all I want to say THANK YOU to those sweet friends who left a comment as to their take on my copyright question.  It looks like we are all on the same page when it comes to making sure we give proper credit for pictures on our blogs so I don't feel so paranoid after all. :-)

Mr. Shabby and I got out early this morning and hit a "yard sale" that was actually held inside the local recreation building and had 22 sellers.  What a great way to do yard sales. LOL  Just corral 'em all in one place and have fun!  I did not allow myself any expectations because it seems around here all one finds at yard sales are clothes.  But this was nice and I scored a few things for the antique space and a few for myself.  Here are a couple of my finds.

I love the look of this scale.  This goes to Shabby Cottage at The Corner Nest.

And these little treasures go into my button and bling boxes!

Then this afternoon I worked on some new Collage Sheets in my Altered Series.  Altered Diva's 9 and 10.

Happy Saturday my lovelies...I hope you had as nice a day as I've had!

A Question for my Blogger Friends

It must be Spring because I've been in a cleaning mood. I lined shelves in the kitchen.  I cleaned up my studio. I started cleaning the flower beds.  I've even been cleaning up my blog trying to make it look neater.   I created a video of some of my work and replaced the class video link (which is now at the bottom of the page).  I changed the background a tad, neatened and rearranged the sidebars some.  All in all I think it looks much cleaner even if no one else notices the changes.

Here is my question for you my sweet blogger friends...when you create a post and are not using your own photos, where do you find the photos you do use, without infringing on copyrights?  I admit to being paranoid about copyright infringement when it comes to images.  I travel a lot of blogs, see a lot of pictures that I know do not belong to the blog owner,  and often there is no credit listed either.  Do you think some people don't care or maybe understand about copyrights?  Do you think I'm being to paranoid?  Is there a secret place everyone knows about but me?  Are you keeping me in the dark like Face Book does? LOL

Happy Wednesday sweet bloggers!
